The Journey…

Prior to my personal journey in therapy, I found myself feeling timid and insecure in new situations. This experience caused me to avoid environments that were challenging or offered the opportunity to fail. It wasn’t until I went to therapy that I was encouraged to consider how I was relating to myself in these situations. As I began this work, I gained insights into varying internal beliefs that I didn’t view myself as capable in comparison to other people in new environments. Gaining these insights allowed me to begin to challenge these beliefs and learn to relate to myself in a more balanced way.

A common trend that I see as I work with people in therapy is a maladaptive view of self that creates anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. These negative beliefs can stem from a million different things and need to be addressed. Many common beliefs that I have noticed include the following:

-       I’m not good enough

-       I’m unlovable

-       There is something wrong with me

-       I’m not worthy

-       I’m stupid

-       I’m incapable

If you identify with this belief or anything like this that you notice effects your life, therapy is a great place to explore that belief and learn to experience yourself in a new way!
